Response Question: the Observers (p. 139-214)
As a messenger for the Observers, Johnny meets several famous historical figures including Paul Revere, Sam Adams, and John Adams. Johnny is also present at many important meetings. Do you think Johnny understands the importance of these men and this group? Given what you know about the American Revolution, what role do you think secret societies like the Observers played during this time?

I think that Johnny does understands the importance of the men especially John Hancock and Sam Adams because he made a remark to Sam Adams saying that if they were ever caught they wouldn't hang the whole group. Instead they would hang only Sam Adams and John Hancock. I think the secret societies played a huge role by simply provking the British and the colonists to fight. I think that war was inevitable but it was they who made the war come sooner as well as independence.
